CBT Therapist in Weybridge

Life can be challenging and there are times when you may not know which way to turn. Finding the right support will give you an opportunity to work through your difficulties and help you to move towards living the life that you want to live.

I specialise in techniques like cognitive behavioural therapy and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), which can help you to recover from trauma and change the way you think about your life.

If you choose to begin therapy with me, you will be at the centre of everything we do. I will approach every confidential session with sensitivity and respect, and I will never judge you.

Together, we can work towards making your life better.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive behavioural Therapy looks at the links between the ways you think, feel and behave. For example, if you are feeling depressed and anxious, your negative thoughts may lead to more low moods, which can affect your behaviour and create more negative thoughts. It can be a vicious cycle, which is difficult to break free from on your own.

As a CBT therapist, I can help you to understand your thoughts and behaviour, and together we can discover more accurate ways of thinking and helpful ways of behaving.

“Just a very small note to say a huge thank you – for your support, kindness and patience. Because of your help I know I am recovering. Thank you so very much”.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

A traumatic event is an emotional shock. When you have been through trauma, it will not be easy to take in what has happened or come to terms with it. After a trauma, it is quite normal to experience all kinds of unpleasant feelings, emotions and physical sensations. Even if you try to shut them out, memories, images and thoughts about the trauma can come into your mind.

This can be a confusing and frightening experience. You may wonder whether you will ever get over the trauma, if you are losing control of yourself or even if you are going mad.

EMDR is a psychotherapy treatment that was designed to relieve the distress that is associated with traumatic memories. The mind can often heal itself naturally, just like the body does. Much of this natural coping mechanism occurs during sleep, particularly during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. EMDR uses this natural process to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and help you to heal.

We can do EMDR together during a brief, focussed treatment, or as a part of a longer psychotherapy programme. EMDR sessions can last between 60 and 90 minutes.

If you have any questions about EMDR, or if you would like to book an appointment with me in Weybridge, near Chertsey and Woking, please contact me.

Couples Therapy

Depression can seep into all areas of your life, and when you are in a relationship, dealing with depression affects both of you. Seeing a counsellor or therapist on your own can be useful, however, as a couples therapist, I can see you and your partner together, supporting you both as you recover.

“Thank you so much for supporting us as a couple and family. Thank you for your continued patience, perseverance and empathy. Our home life has definitely improved and this wouldn’t have happened without your guidance”.

If you have any questions about couples therapy, or if you would like to book an appointment with me in Weybridge, near Chertsey and Woking, please contact me.
